The Colleton Historical Society was organized to preserve historical materials, encourage protection of historic buildings, promote an appreciation of Colleton County's architectural assets, and place historical markers at important sites.

  • Restoration of Pon Pon Chapel of Ease: Pon Pon enclosure is in need of repair.

    • CCHAPS awarded $19,000 matching grant by the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor, to be used to stabilize and repair the ruins at Pon Pon Chapel of Ease.
    • CCHAPS received a report from 4SE, Inc. Structural Engineers from Charleston, SC on the conservation and structural stabilization of the front facade and the north east corner of the structure.

  • "Plantations of Saint Bartholomew's Parish" is still available, and can be purchased here on our website!

Iron enclosure at Pon Pon that will be repaired along with the other projects.
